• MITOCHONDRION: in memory of Professor Lech Wojtczak

    On February 5th 2020, the conference "8th MITOCHONDRION: in memory of Professor Lech Wojtczak" was held at the Nencki Institute of the Polish Academy of Sciences. Professor Lech Wojtczak (1926-2019), associated his entire scientific life with the Nencki Institute of the Polish Academy of Sciences, where he worked since 1947.

  • The leaders of two Dioscuri Scientific Excellence Centers in the Nencki Institute, Dr. Aleksandra Pekowska, and Dr Grzegorz Sumara were chosen to receive prestigious EMBO Installation Grants, which will support them in establishing independent laboratories.

  • Nencki Institute Christmas Meeting

    On 19 December 2019, in the exhibition hall of the Neurobiology Centre, the annual Christmas meeting of the Nencki Institute was held. The meeting began with a speech by the Director of the Institute, Prof. Agnieszka Dobrzyń, who summed up the past year and expressed her Christmas and New Year wishes to all participants. At tables set with Christmas dishes and sounds of Christmas songs celebrated together: the employees, PhD students, guests from befriended Institutes and retired employees of the Nencki Institute. There were also Christmas presents, which were given by our Institute Christmas elfs from the HR department.

  • The National Science Centre has announced the ranking lists of projects approved for funding in MAESTRO and SONATA BIS calls. Scientists from the Nencki Institute received financial support for 1 research project in MAESTRO 11 and for 3 projects in SONATA Bis 9 competitions.

  • On 13th January 2020, in the Exhibition Room of the Neurobiology Centre of the Nencki Institute, the opening of the Art & Science: "The Power of Biological Structures" exhibition took place. This is the third edition of the Art & Science project, which initiates the interaction of molecular biologists and artists. Presented works were created during the scientific-artistic symposium and workshops, which took place in Przeworsk from 28th April to 5th May 2019.

  • On 14 January 2020, by the decision of the Minister of Science and Higher Education, the Nencki Institute's project entitled "Biological and biomedical imaging infrastructure - Bio-Imaging Poland (BIPol)" was placed on the Polish Map of Research Infrastructure, in the field of biomedical sciences.
